Credit card debt may be avoided by knowing how credit cards work

Young adults in New Jersey may apply for credit cards with the intention of building a credit rating that will benefit them when they need to apply for mortgages, car loans or other lines of credit. Unfortunately, the marketing by credit card companies typically underscores the card's benefits, such as traveling miles, exclusive discounts and other advantages, while the negatives about credit card debt are buried in the small print. To avoid overwhelming credit card debt, knowing how credit cards work is vital.

Chef Luke Paladino files for Chapter 7 bankruptcy

A well-known Italian chef, Luke Palladino, who has been active in the restaurant industry in New Jersey and other states over the past 15 years recently closed his Linwood's Central Square restaurant in Atlantic County. A Chapter 7 bankruptcy was also filed by the celebrity chef recently. Visitors to the shopping center said they were surprised to find the restaurant closed.

Imminent foreclosures may not be stopped by mortgage refinancing

Current mortgage rates are lower than they have been in many years. However, although home values are rising, many New Jersey homeowners fear impending foreclosures. Refinancing a mortgage may provide a remedy for problems with managing mortgage payments -- if the situation is not beyond salvage.

While credit card debt may be good, it can become overwhelming

It is often said that not all debts are bad. However, some New Jersey consumers may believe that credit card debt is to be avoided at all costs. Recent surveys indicate that a substantial percentage of millennials between the ages of 18 and 24 do not have credit cards while those between 25 and 34 do use them. Financial advisors note that some credit can be beneficial if managed properly.
